3 California Awning Suppliers
California is a state with beautiful homes – and beautiful home accents.
It can be overwhelming to choose from the awning manufacturing companies that serve the Golden State. You could choose a business with cookie cutters products to save money, but your neighbor might have the very same awning that you do. That's not good!
Or you could choose a company that specializes in specific products made from a single material, such as copper door awnings. But this limits your options.
Here, we’ll compare three California awning suppliers, so you'll be able to find the company that best suits your needs.
Which awning company is right for you?
General Awnings. A nationwide company that offers many door and window awnings in a variety of colors, pricings, and sizes.
Classic Copper Works. A company that creates hand-made awnings exclusively in copper.
Design Your Awning. That's us. We're a company that provides customized awnings in many different metals, and ships anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.
General Awnings has the lowest prices out of the three companies, with certain fabric awnings starting at under $200. That said, the awnings sold at General Awnings are one-size-fits-all. They're idential to the products you'll find on a number of different websites, so be sure to check and see if the model you want is cheaper somewhere else.
Classic Copper Works and Design Your Awning sell higher-quality and more durable products. Classic Copper Works offers a range of different finishing options and sizes, giving you lots of custom options. The biggest issue here is the pricing isn't clear on their website. You may find yourself surprised at what those little custom "extras" add to the bottom line.
The pricing for Design Your Awning’s Cannon Canopy in copper, or aluminum for example, is much easier to understand. The awning, which fits many doors and windows, is offered at a flat price ($750 or $900) that ships anywhere in the U.S. for no additional charge.
Lower prices often mean fewer options. But not always!
General Awnings doesn’t accept your measurements of your door or window, so it’s up to you to choose what they have (think "small," "medium," and "large") and assemble and install everything properly. If you’re very handy, you might be able to get the awning looking good, but that certainly isn’t guaranteed.
Classic Copper Works has awnings in many different sizes and finishes, and you won't have a problem finding one that fits over your door or window in the way you intended. However, they do suggest installation be performed by semi-skilled workers, so if you’re not familiar with installation, you might need to hire someone to install your awning.
Design Your Own Awning has designed a user-friendly assembly and installation process, so everyone can install their his or her own awnings. The Cannon Canopy installation, for example, just requires you install three wall Z clips and attach the scrolls. Here is the 5-Step Canon Canopy installation Guide(PDF link).
Styles and Sizes
General Awning has lots of different awning options in many different metals and fabrics. While they don’t offer customization, they do have many options that might be similar to what you’re looking for, if not exact.
Classic Copper Works only makes awnings in copper, so if you’re looking for an awning made from any other material, you’ll need to look elsewhere. The company makes common sizes for most of its products. But if your door or window has unusual dimensions or an unusual shape, you're going to have a difficult time finding what you need.
Design Your Awning gives you more size and style options than either of the other two companies, with awnings available in copper, aluminum, and steel. You also don’t need to worry that the company doesn’t have the right size for your door or window -- they customize each awning so that it matches your exact size and style requirements.
If you’re still not sure what company to choose, we suggest browsing through Design Your Awning’s project portfolio. It will give you a better sense of the range of options Design Your Awning provides. You can also give us a call. We’ll give you clear facts about pricing, design, and specifications so you’ll be better able to make an informed decision about your awning provider.
